Make 2019 the year to look after your well-being first and foremost


Happy New Year to all of you readers, and welcome to my brand new blog!


I sincerely hope that 2019 has started well for you.


Many of us start the new year with great intentions, yet there are so many obstacles that get in the way of actually achieving them. So how will this year be different? I strongly suggest you give this site a go: https://www.nhs.uk/oneyou/how-are-you-quiz/


I recommend this site for three reasons:

1. It’s set up by a trustworthy organisation (Public Health England) who want you to get healthier, because a healthier population means less demand on the NHS.

2. It’s written in simple questions.

3. It offers personalised guidance to help you take the first steps in the right direction, so whatever your ‘obstacles’, there are helpful tips to overcome them.

4. It gives you a score.


Why is having a score important?


I think it is important to know where your current level of health is in January 2019. This will help you to realise that you are NOT totally useless at looking after yourself, yet reminds you that there are areas which you need to work on.


Furthermore, after 12 months, you may wish to revisit the site and find out how much you have improved during the year to get a real sense of achievement.

So, I’m starting a blog to help you get to a better state of health by the end of the year, and beyond. I am aiming to do this on a weekly basis. I’m quite scared as I have never done anything like this before, and it is certainly one of my resolutions/targets for this year!
